The Daily News of Newburyport
To the editor: Effective legislative leadership requires, above all, the ability and willingness to listen to constituents and build relationships with town leaders and other legislators. It also requires the wisdom to collaborate with others to craft effective, lasting solutions.
State Rep. Kristin Kassner (2nd Essex) has demonstrated the power of relationshipbuilding with town leaders, constituents, subject matter experts, and other legislators. She carefully studies all legislation before agreeing to sponsor or vote for it. She has brought her considerable skill and experience as a planner to her role as a representative and has made it her business to understand how to work effectively in the legislature to support the people of our district.
As a result, she has been appointed to three key committees: the Joint Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, the Joint Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government, and the House Committee on Ways and Means. This has enabled her to shepherd key legislation through the process and serve our communities well.
By paying attention to both immediate local needs and problems that require larger, longer-term solutions, Kristin has secured more than $100 million in funding for the district, including $16 million in grants and earmarks for water infrastructure, transportation, public safety, and more.
I invite my neighbors in 2nd Essex to join me in voting for Kristin Kassner for state representative. We want her representing us!
