Representative Kristin Kassner’s background as a professional planner is an asset to her constituents — not something to mock or distort as Dan Kelly does. Kelly says he believes “service, civility, and accountability” belong to the Second Essex District, so why isn’t his campaign practicing them?
His website features a video with an image of Kristin Kassner superimposed next to former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and another Soviet official. I can’t know Kelly’s intentions, but the imagery appears designed to create a negative association and disparage Kristin’s professional background. Is this what he means by “civility”?
While Kelly spends his time trying to tear Kristin down, Kristin has taken a completely different approach. She focuses on doing the work — and she actually gets things done. In Rowley, she has focused on resolving real issues, worked with town officials and community organizations, collaborated with fellow legislators and advocated for state resources for our community. Her engaging style has helped bring significant grants, earmarks, and state aid to Rowley.
Kristin has 20 years of local-government planning experience, a master’s degree in urban and environmental policy and planning from Tufts University and a track record of helping communities address growth, infrastructure, land use, and environmental challenges. Those are precisely the kinds of skills that can help a state legislator understand and advocate for the needs of local communities.
Voters deserve a campaign focused on records, qualifications, and ideas—not personal attacks or inflammatory imagery. I encourage voters in the Second Essex District to examine Ms. Kasser’s record and vote for her in the upcoming election.
